All of ESST’s projects are subjected to stringent evaluation during and after completion. The success of a project is measured according to both formative and summative criteria relevant to the project, e.g. the number of people in the areas covered by the project who acquired knowledge of the relevant subject on account of the intervention. Such evaluation is measured quantitatively – the extent to which the content has become part of operational knowledge. We also evaluate qualitatively – testing the individual and corporate responses of beneficiaries to the project, its educational material and implementation activities.
We make structured interviews with individuals and groups to assess impact immediately after the project and up to three months after implementation. Data is then consolidated and processed for client purposes. We conducted a readiness assessment for the RAF, and have conducted detailed impact assessments for the Learning Adventure (with numerous independent assessments) and the Know Your Service Rights Campaign. Our material is pre-tested with focus groups in all languages. Independent evaluations of all three phases of “A People’s Contract” have also been conducted.
