The Family Education Programme (FEP) is aimed at the holistic development of all the members of a family. The content covers a wide and varied range of life-related topics, enabling learners to acquire an extensive knowledge and thinking-skills base over a period of time.
The programme is based on the principle that learning is a form of socialisation and that the most productive learning takes place informally and in a close personal context.
The material is learning-centred, i.e. it is designed in such a way that it draws learners into spontaneous and creative learning.
Because of its emphasis on shared learning and interaction, the FEP is an ideal vehicle through which all family members can become literate and informed.
A family receives six sets of material over a 12-month period, totaling almost 800 pages of highly interactive material. Over a 10-year period, more than 8 000 pages of material have been developed.
